Pros and Cons of Technology

This current readings on technology are very interesting. There are good arguments for both the pros and cons. But as someone said in our TI, technology it is here to stay. We have no choice but to make the best of technology.

The question needs to be, are we going to use technology to truly make a difference in learning? Will we take a scientific approach to determine the best use for technology? Will we use quality research to help us make decisions.

The same questions apply to my work. Are we applying good research to technology? Are we evaluating the true cost/benefits of e-learning? I noticed this last week that we have some very interesting web-based tools that we hardly use. I doubt there was any consideration of the need or applicability of these tools when purchased. I would guess that cost has for outweighed the benefits in much of my companies technology.

What interests me is finding creative ways to use technology that will really improve learning and productivity in the corporate environment. This must be done with good research and a scientific approach.
